Synthesizing DMT from milk?

What?

No, you read that correctly. The reason for this is to document this impossibly beautiful idea. and to essentially put law-makers in a stale-mate if you will.

The regulation of psychedelic drugs has become absurd, and this method of DMT production is just a testament to the fact that, when there is a will, there is most definitely a way.

Procedure:

Milk -> Casein -> Tryptophan -> Tryptamine -> Dimethyltryptamine

Extracting the Casein from Milk:

1. Add rennet to the milk, it should break down the casein into smaller molecules that can be separated from the liquid portion of the milk.
2. Add hydrochloric acid to the casein solution (get to pH 4) to precipitate the casein.
3. Separate the precipitated casein using a filter.

Extracting the Tryptophan from Casein

1. Add a solvent like diethyl ether or chloroform to the remaining liquid to extract the tryptophan.
2. Separate the solvent layer containing tryptophan using a separating funnel.
3. Evaporate the solvent to get tryptophan.

Converting the Tryptophan to Tryptamine.

1. Convert tryptophan to tryptophan methyl ester: This can be done by reacting tryptophan with methanol and hydrochloric acid.
2. Reduce tryptophan methyl ester to tryptamine: This can be done using a reducing agent such as lithium aluminum hydride (LiAlH4) or sodium borohydride (NaBH4).
3. Purify the tryptamine: The crude tryptamine can be purified using techniques such as column chromatography or recrystallization.

Converting the Tryptamine to DMT

1. First, we mix tryptamine with a solvent and add sodium hydride to remove a hydrogen atom from the amine group of tryptamine.
2. Then, we add methyl iodide to the mixture and heat it up to create a new compound called N-methyltryptamine.
3. Finally, we add more methyl iodide and sodium hydride to the mixture and heat it again to convert the N-methyltryptamine into DMT.
4. The resulting DMT is then isolated and purified by adding an acidic solution to the mixture, extracting the product with a solvent, and then evaporating the solvent to get a purified product.
   
   This is adequate for storage, but if you want freebase DMT, mix the DMT with water and then add a base such as Sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and extract using a solvent like heptane or naphtha. then put in a freezer to crash out the freebase crystals.

This was the process put as simply as possible.

If you genuinely want to execute something like this, please do far more research than just following this procedure step by step, this is a good foundation, however.

What I more wanted to highlight here is that chemistry is in all things. the way different materials interact with each other to create something that is not what it was but has even more value than its predecessor. Its beautiful. This is before even wondering how the experiences of certain compounds interact with us. That’s a story for another day, though. for now, just find psychedelia in all things.
