When I refer to tea in this post I am referring to Camillia sinensis specifically. not a catch all for any plant infusion. Just to make things clear.
Whether you’re drinking tea for fun or if you take it damn seriously, tea is amazing. I want to talk about why I’ve taken so heavily to tea in recent times.
Tea is the perfect interim to anything, its a way to unwind after a long day of work, its perfect to calm down before a long day of work, its lovely on a day of relaxation and calm. Basically, tea is the ideal candidate at almost anytime you ask yourself: “What do I do now?”.
As much as I could go on for hours about how fantastic tea is, how amazing it is because of its constituents. That isnt even a quarter of why tea is so great.
Tea has a long history of human use, the cultivation and preparation of tea dates back thousands of years. Tea was discovered by the Chinese Emperor Shen Nong in 2737 BC when supposedly leaves from a wild tree blew into his pot of boiling water.
Tea has now become an integrel part of society at large, and tea is the second most consumed beverage next to water.
With that all being said! What is a tea pet? Tea pets are little figurines, usually made from clay, that will usually sit on top of your tea tray, you feed the tea pets by pouring tea over them, it is a way of sharing your tea and enjoying the space with another, whether living or not.
The reason I love tea pets so much is because it adds a whole new dimension to the tea drinking experience. It is a way of expressing that the act of drinking the tea is almost more important than the tea itself. It is a way of showing gratitude and grace, a way of appreciating the present moment, a way of changing the perception you have on consumption in general. And for that. I love tea pets.
Teapots also appreciate in value the more they are used.
The whole idea of drinking tea and having your items appreciate in value because they are being used regularly is a beautiful concept. usually things depreciate in value, but the act of drinking tea in and of itself is a constructionary experience, you build fortitude, you experience inconsequential pleasure, and, you can even get high!
Try to think of what other actions you do, or other items you own, that would appreciate in value the more you use them. There are not many items with these attributes.
Tea culture, with the addition of tea pets specifically, promote mindfulness and gives you good luck.
TEA FOR ALL!
